Rockies 2009 Post Season Wrap-up

Although the Rockies were unable to deliver a "four-peat" this year, they finished a successful season in second place with a 24-16 record. A similar record in 2007 was good enough for the ACBL championship. The Rockies were ACBL champions from 2006 to 2008 and were the first team to "three-peat" since the Allentown Wings won titles from 1978 thru 1980. In five seaons the Rockies have posted a 130-58 regular season record with an ACBL record .692 winning percentage.

Five Rockies, Darin Gorski (Mets-7), Chris Sedon (Tigers-10), Murphy Smith (A's-13), Nate Reed (White Sox-20) and Dan Rhault (Rays-26) were selected in the 2009 MLB Draft. Former Rockie third baseman Zach Lutz, a 5th round pick of the Mets in 2007, was promoted to AA Binghamton this year.

Casey Lawrence (Albright), Nate Reed (Pitt), Shane Houck (Kutztown), Cody Kulp (Shippensburg) and Dewey Oriente (St. Joseph's) were selected to the Wolff Division All-Star team.

If logistical issues cannot be resolved in the very near future, the Kutztown Rockies will accept a one year leave of absence from the ACBL for the 2010 season. During this leave the Rockies will need to increase financial and managerial support and will seek to obtain, with certainty, a suitable home field in Kutztown.

The Rockies would like to take this opportunity to again express our appreciation for all the support we have been so priveleged to receive over the past five years. This support has directly contributed to the tremendous success of this organization. Thanks for an amazing run! Thanks for your interest in Kutztown Rockies Baseball.
